The Wise Parrot

Deep in the heart of a lush, green jungle, there lived a Parrot named Mitu. Mitu was no ordinary bird. He had feathers of brilliant emerald green, a beak like a red chili, and eyes that sparkled with intelligence. But what made Mitu special was his wisdom. He observed everything. He listened to the wind, the river, and the whispers of the trees. All the animals in the jungle—the monkeys, the deer, the rabbits, and even the elephants—respected Mitu. If anyone had a problem, they would fly or run to Mitu’s tree. “Mitu, where can I find the sweetest mangoes?” a monkey would ask. “Mitu, is the river safe to cross today?” a deer would ask. Mitu always gave good advice.

One summer, a terrible danger came to the jungle. A rogue Lion arrived from the mountains. This lion was not like their old King Lion, who only hunted when hungry. This new lion was a bully. He roared day and night. He chased animals just for fun. He frightened the little ones so much they wouldn’t come out to play. “Roar! I am the strongest!” the Lion would bellow, shaking the ground. The animals were terrified. “He will eat us all!” cried a rabbit. “We must leave our home.” They gathered under Mitu’s tree, trembling. “Please help us, Wise Parrot,” they pleaded. “What can we do? We are small and weak compared to him.”

Mitu looked down at his friends. He fluffed his green feathers. “Fear makes you weak,” squawked Mitu. “But unity makes you strong. The Lion is big, yes. But he is only one. You are many.” “But he has teeth and claws!” said a deer. “And you have voices,” said Mitu. “Listen to my plan.”

Mitu whispered his plan to the animals. The monkeys nodded. The elephants flapped their ears. The birds chirped in agreement. The next day, the Lion was prowling near the riverbank, looking for someone to bully. Suddenly—Thump! Thump! Thump! The ground began to shake. The Lion looked around, confused. Then—SCREEEEECH! Thousands of parrots and crows dived from the sky, cawing loudly. HOOOOOOWL! The monkeys in the trees screamed and shook the branches violently. TRUMPET! The elephants blasted their trunks like thunder. The noise was deafening. It sounded like the jungle itself was angry. It sounded like a monster a thousand times bigger than the Lion.

The bully Lion was shocked. He had never heard such a sound. He looked up and saw the sky turn black with birds. He looked down and saw the bushes shaking. “What is this?” he stammered. “Is this a giant? A storm? A demon?” His courage vanished. His tail went between his legs. “I… I should go!” he squeaked. The great big Lion turned and ran. He ran faster than he had ever run in his life. He ran over the hills and far away, never to return. The jungle fell silent. Then, a cheer went up! “We did it!” laughed the animals. Mitu flew down and sat on an elephant’s tusk. “Remember this day,” he said wisely. “A single twig breaks easily, but a bundle of twigs is unbreakable. As long as you stand together, no bully can harm you.”

Moral of the Story: Unity is strength. Together, even the weak can defeat the strong.
