The Monkey King

Deep within a lush, ancient mango grove, right beside a rushing and dangerous river, lived a massive tribe of monkeys. They were led by a wise, strong Monkey King who cared deeply for his family. The monkeys loved the sweet, juicy mangoes that grew high in the branches, living a peaceful and happy life.

However, one crisp sunny afternoon, a group of human hunters discovered the hidden grove. Seeing the hundreds of monkeys swinging through the trees, the hunters raised their bows and arrows, hoping to catch them.

The tribe panicked. โ€œMonkey King, what do we do?โ€ they cried in terror. To escape the loud, scary hunters, the monkeys needed to cross the wide river to the safety of the opposite bank. But the gap between the trees was just slightly too far for a normal monkey to jump.

The Monkey King did not hesitate. He leaped gracefully into the air and grabbed a thick vine hanging from a tree on the safe side of the river. Then, he stretched his long, powerful legs back across the water, firmly hooking his toes around a strong branch on the dangerous side.

He had turned his own body into a living bridge!

โ€œQuickly now, do not be afraid!โ€ the Monkey King shouted through gritted teeth as his arms ached. โ€œRun across my back to the other side!โ€

One by one, the entire tribe scampered across his back. From the tiniest baby monkeys to the oldest elders, they all made it safely to the opposite bank. The hunters, witnessing this grand and painful sacrifice, stood frozen in shock. They were so moved by the kingโ€™s selfless love and extraordinary leadership that they put down their weapons forever, completely ashamed of their actions.

Moral of the Story: Great leaders protect those in their care. A true leader uses their strength to help others, not just themselves.
